THE LIVING SPRINGS CHORALE, SLEEPY CREEK CHILDREN'S CHOIR TO BEGIN REHEARSALS FOR SPRING CONCERTS
BERKELEY SPRINGS, West Va., Dec. 29, 2008 – The Community Choir, Inc. (www.thecommunitychoir.org) today announced that the Living Springs Chorale and the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir will begin preparations for their spring concert season in January.
The Living Springs Chorale
The Living Springs Chorale, Morgan County’s own community choir, will hold its first rehearsal for the spring season on Tuesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals are held weekly in the Fellowship Hall of the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, located at 97 Mercer Street in Berkeley Springs. Concert dates and venues for the Living Springs Chorale’s spring performances will be announced in the coming weeks.
The 30 + voice ensemble, now in its seventh season, is sponsored by the Community Choir, Inc. and directed by Lydia Walker. The volunteer choral group is open to singers of high school age through mature years. Prerequisites include love of classical and spiritual choral music, some previous singing experience, and commitment to 10-11 weekly rehearsals, in addition to concerts.
Interested singers are encouraged to register for and attend the initial gathering on January 20 at the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church. For information about the Living Springs Chorale, contact Lydia Walker, Artistic Director, at 304-258-3031.
Sleepy Creek Children's Choirs
The Sleepy Creek Children’s Choirs, under the direction of Denise Cline and Margi Griffiths, continues their third season with registration and rehearsals for the Youth Chorale (ages 13 – 18) on January 20 at 5 p.m. and for the Primary choir (ages 5 – 8) and Intermediate choir (ages 9 – 12) on January 22 at 4:30 p.m. Rehearsals for all three choirs are held at the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church on Mercer Street. Registration is $15 per child or $20 per family.
In addition to performing in a community event later this spring, all three choirs will present their Second Annual Spring Concert in April. For more information about the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir, please contact Denise Cline at 304-258-7792.
