About Us
The Community Choir, Inc. was founded in the late 1990s as an ecumenical and interfaith organization to bring together local musicians who enjoy singing spiritual music. Although based in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, the Choir encourages participants and support from nearby communities in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Singers who wish to join one of our choirs are encouraged to call one of our Board members or one of the musical directors.
The Community Choir, Inc. welcomes friends who support our mission with financial contributions, service as Board members, and administrative and technical guidance.
The Community Choir, Inc. is an incorporated 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
Our Choirs
The Community Choir, Inc. sponsors the Living Springs Chorale, a mixed voice choir of more than 30 area men and women, as well as the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir, a 30-voice children’s chorus -- consisting of three separate choirs -- established to encourage the development of young singers in the classical performing arts.
Our Concerts
In addition to participating in local events and performing for community groups, the Living Springs Chorale and Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir present a concert series each winter and spring in area venues.

Our Directors
The Choir is blessed with three talented, experienced directors:
• Lydia Walker, Artistic Director of the Living Springs Chorale
• Denise Cline, Musical Director of the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir
• Margi Griffiths, Assistant Director of the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir
Our directors are responsible for setting their choir’s artistic direction, educating singers during weekly rehearsals and conducting the choir and instrumentalists during performances.
Our Instrumentalists
For the past five seasons, the Living Springs Chorale and the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir have been accompanied by keyboardist Rose Ann Glover. In addition to serving as the choirs’ rehearsal pianist, Rose Ann accompanies the choirs and performs with guest instrumentalists during concerts.
The Community Choir, Inc. takes every opportunity to showcase the talents of local youth and adult instrumentalists in their concerts. Through our partnership with the Coalition for the Performing Arts and our close relationships with local church musicians, TCCI has shared the stage with a wide range of instrumental soloists and ensembles.
George G. Rink Memorial Scholarship
In March 2009, the Board of Directors of The Community Choir, Inc. voted to honor one of the choirs founders by establishing the George G. Rink Memorial Scholarship program for young musicians.
The George G. Rink Scholarship recognizes promising young musicians in Morgan County who are actively engaged in pursuing instrumental or vocal training, music theory, composition or conducting studies.
Awards may be used toward purchase of instruments, tuition for private lessons, classes, workshops and conferences that enhance the student’s music education, or fees for participation in instrumental and vocal groups.
Since the George G. Rink Scholarship was established in early 2009, The Community Choir has selected violinist James Worley [link to press release], and pianists Dia Griffiths, Merrick Jensen, Laurel Worley and Nathan Worley [link to press release – to come later this week] to receive scholarship funds.
Young musicians interested in applying for a George G. Rink Memorial Scholarship should send an inquiry to info@thecommunitychoir.org for more information about the application process.
